About Us

Thrive is the brainchild of Chris Laudadio. After building a successful line of American-made office furniture Versa Tables, Chris wanted to utilize his Los Angeles factory for something a bit closer to his heart — his love for mid century modern design. So in 2011 he added Thrive into the mix. Now the Los Angeles factory produces office furniture right along side these beautiful modernist pieces. The blending of the two brands is in fact seamless as many of Versa Tables clients use Thrives upscale sofas and chairs for their lobbies and public spaces. Yelp’s headquarters in San Francisco is just one of many top companies to have Thrive in their lobby. Yelp used our Kennedy’s chairs to define their whimsical yet refined look for their headquarters.

Thrive Furniture is self-contained. All aspects of design, engineering, manufacturing, sales, and delivery are managed right here in our factory which is located in the heart of South Los Angeles. Our showroom is located in West Hollywood on Beverly Blvd. Beverly Blvd. is an upscale, urban shopping destination here in Los Angeles where many showrooms and high-end shops reside. Maintaining all aspects of ownership of the brand and manufacturing locally ensures we are producing the highest quality of products.

In addition to providing the highest quality of furniture manufacturing, we have taken steps to become more efficient, cut waste, utilize responsible materials, and protect the broader world, not just what’s in our own backyard. As a company, we are committed to running our business in a way that is not about trends or marketing, but on solid sustainable principles. Much like the original modernist and their commitment to the ethos “form follows function”.

One such way we walk the talk is we carefully monitor where our wood comes from, only using wood that is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. The council establishes strict social, environmental, and economic standards for managing and protecting the world’s forests. For all of our exposed wood we use Beech wood, which gives us a rich color thanks to the way it absorbs the stain. And we only use Poplar wood for all structural framing due to its high sustainability. We are also committed to ensuring the responsible harvesting of the wood used in our furniture and understand the true cost of clear-cutting our national forest.

It is with this criterion and ideals established in our company that the model of the quintessential modern lifestyle and attitude comes across in Thrive’s furniture collection. Our influences are many, but the true geniuses that paved the way for our style are: Richard Neutra, Florence Knoll, George Nelson, Mies van der Rohe, Poul Jensen, Fin Juhl, Marcel Breuer… just to name a few who’s post-war vision was to make beautiful clean and simple designs assessable and available to the masses. And much like our mentors, our basis tenet is the same… It is our mission to bring clean design built with the highest quality of sustainable materials, the highest level of functionality, all the while maintaining affordability to everyone we meet.
